About the Editor
Welcome to the Incredible Web Site for Knowledge and
Insight. My goal is to provide myself a
forum for writing about all things me.
I am a native of Calgary, Alberta, Canada. I recently
graduated with degrees in biological sciences and secondary education from the University of Calgary.
I currently teach K-12 in Calgary.
Biology has
been a hobby of mine since I was a little kid. I have always been
fascinated with living organisms and organic processes. To date, I have
mostly focused on the macroscopic aspects of Biology, that is, I am more
intrigued with biology at the organismal and ecological levels as opposed to at
the biochemical and cellular levels. I am also fascinated by chemistry and
feel comfortable enough with math that I could teach it at a junior high level.
If you've toured this page, you will notice that I am particularly interested
in the Federal and Provincial politics of Canada. I am a member in good
standing of both the Conservative Party of Canada (CPC) and the Progressive
Conservative Party of Alberta (PC). My official ideology could be entitled
"fiscal and social neoconservative". I am a conservative in
principle but I realize that society progresses, we must make room for new
ideas, while still respecting past traditions. As a University student, the idea that you must favor socialist principles in your young years
torments me. Many of my fellow students believe that to be in
the "in crowd" you must be falling off the left wing.
On this page, I will try to express some views which are conservative
minded. I will try to show that conservative views do not represent the
evils of society, rather they evolved from the ideals of common
sense. Many of my positions have been published as letters to editors in
major newspapers. In 2004, one of my letters was judged to be one of the
best letters of the year in the Calgary Herald. I have also been
awarded "letter of the day" in 2005, 2006 and 2007 by the Herald.
Another hobby, which I am involved in, is rating movies. Let me first
blurt out that it
is against everything I stand for to pay twelve dollars to see a movie which has
a 50/50 chance of getting my enjoyment. Instead, when movies are released
to stores, and are shown on television, I make a concerted effort to watch, stay
awake, and objectively rate each movie I see.
Take a look around, and If you want to leave feedback on anything I say or
you see, please feel free to do so.
PS, Check back as I plan to update often!
